White Soup

Today I'm not feeling well. I've been sick a few times, and not sure what is causing this. However, I know that a soup is good. Not only will it warm me, but I know of several foods which would boost the immunity system and settle the stomach. I based it off egg drop soup, in order to get some protein.

In my wok, I sweated four cloves of garlic and half an onion. Once those were nearly done, I sprinkled about 2tbsp of mustard powder, 1tbsp of ginger powder (only because my ginger root had spoiled), and 1.5tsp of basil. After mixing that well, I added in 3c of Swanson chicken broth. Once the broth was boiling, I stirred in two beaten eggs. After it was clear that the eggs were cooked, I added in 1/2c of Mueller's elbow pasta and 1tbsp of pine nuts. I only then waited for the pasta to be cooked!

It is very delicious. The smell alone settled my stomach thanks to the ginger. The thickness and heartiness felt good and substantial. The pine nuts added a delightful crunch. I will definitely make this again - even when not feeling ill.
